Going round the mini-roundabout (on the bus) the other day,I was surprised to see a rather unsightly section of chain-link fencing supported by two rather jaunty poles positioned at the back of the War Memorial. Has this been there long ? I presume that it is there to block the pedestrian desire-line to cross South Street by the shortest route and encourage people to use the more formal crossing. Anyone else know if this is the case ? And wouldn't a vegetation barrier (holly or thorn hedge)be rather better than a poorly-erected ugly fence ? |
