Personally I don't have any issue at all with the northern approach to the junction of Twickenham Road and Worton Road still being two lanes for traffic going straight on. But immediately after that junction there needs to be a "road narrows" sign and a "mini roundabout ahead" sign and there needs to be effective road markings which quickly shrink the northern carriageway width from two lanes to one. At the moment there's a completely wrong "right turn ahead" sign, the northern carriageway width is approximately 1.66 lanes wide, and the first time there's a "roundabout" sign is when you're actually on the roundabout. Yes drivers will hopefully/probably give cyclists space when they see them, but we all know drivers don't always see cyclists and if the whole approach was more coordinated drivers would be far less likely to encroach into the cycle lane at any time. |
