Facetiousness aside, it does to my mind support an argument which in the current climate I know goes down about as well as a cup of cold vomit. Politics should pay better, you'd get a better standard of candidate applying, you'd cut down on expenses fraud if they were paid better, and it wouldn't still (on a national level at least) be the preserve of the well off. The old adage "pay peanuts, get monkeys" would seem to hold more truth than not a lot of the time. I do realise though that it's a very unpopular argument. |
