The Conservative Councillors in Hounslow South were entitled to celebrate their own election even if Labour had regained control of the Council. I think that UKIP's fielding of three candidates in Isleworth will do more harm to the Conservatives than to Labour or the ICG. UKIP tends to take more votes from the Conservatives than from Labour or others. However, in the long run, the demographic trends in Brentford and Isleworth will favour the Conservatives. If people want to vote out the current inept Labour administration in Hounslow, the logical thing to do is to vote Conservative. The Conservative Party is the only party capable of winning overall control of Hounslow Council from the Labour Party. Votes for other parties or candidates are in effect votes for Labour. |
