Chris I assume you mean as part of a coalition, right? We are fielding seven candidates - three each in Syon and Isleworth, and one in Brentford. In the event of our candidates being successful I would consider the prospect of there being a coalition administration unlikely. Firstly because I would expect Labour to win a comfortable majority anyway (I am guessing this is what Vanessa was scoffing about?), and secondly because I cannot personally see how a working arrangement could be concluded with either of the major parties. Our task as a minority opposition group would, as I see it, be to prepare a path for a different approach to local politics to be taken borough-wide in 2018, as well of course as to frustrate any assault on the active communities that we'd have been elected to serve. Experience teaches us that that in itself makes the whole thing worthwhile. |
