My view is that pollution is a national problem and should be dealt with at a national level. Local councils trying to impose their own (inconsistent) rules causes resentment and confusion. We have two obvious major causes of high local pollution (and noise) - Heathrow and congestion on the A4 / M4 particularly at bottlenecks. Penalising a relatively small number of resident's vehicles will do little to address the problem, but will do a lot of damage, as we are seeing here, to community goodwill towards the Council. |
