| I don't think that will be the case anymore. But just take a look at Ealing next door. The conservatives have finally started to mobilise and get out there and expose to residents what is going on. Most of the problems in Ealing are from the actions of just one cabinet portfolio holder, who answers to no-one but uses PR and pals to hide behind. Not all that different here. To my mind this is an issue bigger than any one party. It is a huge mess up and one of ham fisted and arrogant handling. But if the tories or lib dems or independents want to make a stand and succeed then they need to get out and about both here and in Syon and make very clear what they do stand for locally, and stick to it. Personally, I think it's this closed cabinet thing that is the root of all that is going wrong. Debate is stifled and it has led to secrecy, done deals and abuse of power. Everything it was supposed to eradicate. It's failed. How can we have a deputy leader who runs away at a crucial time in a crisis to India for weeks at a time. Who does not answer calls, letters or emails. Who has a rather chequered history? He is either committed at this level, or he is not, It cannot be both. How can we have a bully and a person who shows nothing but contempt for his electorate and neighbours as a fit and proper person to represent this borough? So yes it is all created by blind voters, but I don't think they are quite so blind anymore. |
