| "We’ve already made important decisions about the changes to services which include charging for the collection of garden waste from next spring but there is still more to consider on our service offer and the quality of our services, whilst we maintain our efforts to increase recycling, reduce the cost of our landfill and ensure that we keep our streets clean." So what happened/is happening with those community banks? Those banks should be managed by Hounslow Council. "Managed" means making sure that everybody knows what should go in them and making an effort to see that it does and not just overseeing the regular emptying of them. If these Councils truly want to increase the real recycling percentage as they maintain then they need to follow the lorries on bin day and see for themselves who they need to engage with - and not expect neighbours to denounce each other. It seems that a chef can engage with residents (OK not LBH) and yet those who really should be hide in offices behind computers looking at spreadsheets and playing with notional and fanciful figures. Sir Gerry Robinson would be out there walking the walk. |
