Our citizens feel aggrieved. Our complaints at an open meeting are cut short and ignored. Citizens take action to the front door of a politician to complain, make a point and then disperse. What does politician do? Call police. By the time the police get there the 'mob' (actually around 20 people of all ages) have taken their wheelie bins and neatly stacked them in their local park. 48 hours later a citizen who asked for answers is arrested at his home and taken away in handcuffs. Is this the way for a 'leader' of a council or a local political party to behave? I have had good and bad dealings over the years with Cllr. Curran, but his behaviour in this shames the council, his party and himself. Next time you want to protest in Hounslow you do so in the full knowledge that there might be a knock on your door one day. Your wife or husband might be obliged to see you dragged off in handcuffs and your property confiscated. This is what happens here, in Brentford, in the 21st century. If anyone has photographs or footage of what happened on Thursday night please keep it - it may be used as evidence in criminal proceedings. I'll leave others to decide on whether this is appropriate behaviour. |
