I am sorry that you were completely misinformed as to the reason that the 'Royal' signage had been taken down from the fascia of the pub and I am responding on behalf of Noel McNaboe who is my partner and landlord, aswell as myself. As Jim mentions earlier, the 'L' in Royal is broken and after putting it up we felt that it looked odd with the spelling of 'Roya' so we took it down again. We are going about searching for a new 'L' of the same typeface and will re-instate when we receive it. Meanwhile, if you look below the sign, etched on the window, 'Royal Horseguardsman' can be seen in its full glory. It's a shame that such rumours can taint a reputation and we are grateful for the opportunity on this occasion to be be able to nip it in the bud. Noel is Irish and I am English, so I hope that speaks for itself. If you have any other doubts, please feel free to call in and speak to myself or Noel. |
