According to Gillian Clegg's B&C Pubs book ..it was "an old beerhouse. It first appears in a directory of 1888 as the Horseguardsman" NB no Royal mentioned by Gillian. In Kellys 1938 Street Directory...I have here..on the corner of Ealing Road and the High Street was Mr SA Minchinton a farrier (he shoed/looked after horses/cavalry horses. #At No 1 was Chas Judd... #1a. Herbert Miller. # there was a lane called "The barracks" #then at No 23 John W Lane, beer retailer.. one of your previous occupants. I recall from old threads/topics that there was a Brentford Barracks of sorts..linked to one of the Middlesex Regiments. |
