| Jim - as ever photos were lovely. You should try and chat up Liz the Landlady to see if she will let you in to take some interior ones. If you look at the third pic on your 19.16 posting yesterday, you can see on the right hand side, centre window, where the courage sign is - used to be the door to the snug. If you follow the line down you can see where they blocked it off on the outside, although the door was still there inside. Can you imagine how small the rooms were, when the two walls were still there (the one for the snug and the one for the jug and bottle. It was always warm and cosy even with the walls down. I remember being there one day when the Landlord asked if everyone wanted something to eat (oh there were only about six of us) and he promptly went over to the chippy and got some chips and laid them out on the bar, and we all tucked in - lovely. |
