| You must have been well shocked Anthony...but I have a little info for you following my visit to the RH some days ago. The letter "L" was missing from the ROYAL signage outside the pub...for some reason or other. There were certainly a half dozen friendly Irish lads there that night..sitting at a table and very polite and well behaved...and with a following of pretty lasses. The landlord mentioned to me the missing "L" and mentioned that he had in mind to call the RH by it's original name "The Horseguardsman" which was stated in Gillian Clegg's Brentford Pubs book which he had and showed me. So whether "Royal" has been dropped for "signage convenience" or customer pressure..I really don't know. |
