| I did wonder if labelling the pub as the Roya Horseguardsman was an ironic comment on the new landlord's name, but apparently not. Noel showed me the broken L last night, it's some kind of ceramic type material that doesn't seem to take glue well. He also has a copy of "Brentford and Chiswick Pubs" by Gillian Clegg which mentions that the pub was recorded in 1888 as simply The Horseguardsman. No-one seems to know when it acquired the Royal prefix. |
