| Sue, I think you may have answered the question as to the reason for the name The Barracks. Your description of your grandparents house,fits exactly with the term Barrack used as a basic temporary dwelling,they weren't always huge garrisons. They weren't always for the military either but often were,if they were built around the end of WW1 they may have been for returning soldiers and family. It'd be interesting to know if your maternal Granpa was ex-Army? |
