The Albany Arms could close as soon as Monday I'm told. Meetings are being held..but it is possible that it could survive a little longer..if someone showed an interest in taking it on.
"We,(in the game) are battered by the Supermarkets (prices per case) and the smoking ban""..and "it's very difficult to make any money after rent and rates have been paid, then staff and basic costs!
With regard to the Albany Arms I'm told that the Police would like to see it closed down..and any new landlord might have difficulty in getting a License..because of local objections.
A lady passing by disagreed with me when I said that the Bricklayers Arms had been a fine place some 10 or more years ago. No! this old Brenfordian said.."it was rough for a long long time"! Where did the customers come from then?
