Probably right Keith, I just personally find it 'odd' that anyone would want to go to a pub to watch racing, in the same way I find it odd why, in this day & age when you can watch horse racing at home, bet online (getting better odds in the process on a wider range of markets) etc, why anyone would want to go anywhere near a bookmakers. And, as you correctly say, the pub is a very hard one to make a living from, so to me it's important to make any pub as appealing to as broad a customer base as possible - whereas my impression is that, with the exception of the Weir, every pub in Brentford is very similar and thus doesn't appeal to a wider market. As you say though each to their own, and if I sound like a snob can I just counteract that by saying I'm at home watching the darts as I have been most nights this week !. |
