| George, I wasn't making light of what Simon said when I asked him which part of Plymouth his cousin lives in. I think Simon may well have a good point, but as I know Plymouth well I just wanted to visualise the suberb he was talking about. Simon, St Budeaux? I used to travel through it often from the Tamar Bridge down to the city centre. When I lived nearby (about thirty years ago) St Budeaux was about 50% council-owned. But the properties were good quality and I suspect much of it has been flogged off: therein lies the reason for the present-day housing shortage. Me and my mates used to go in the "Blue Monkey" pub, which was between St Budeaux and West Park. Any idea if it's still there? |
