Jennifer, have you ever been to Kensington, Notting Hill or indeed most of central London??? Commercial premises including smelly cafes/upmarket restaurants happily co-exist with exceedingly expensive residential apartments. The issue in Ferry Quays appears to be footfall/customer demand, acquisition cost and annual charges, including service charge leading to losses. Sad if nice restaurants cannot make it but that is how the market works......No reason for the management agent to subsidise service charges (which must be huge for the estate) for commercial at the expense of residential leaseholders. Might be a case for the freeholder to provide a subsidy of some form to keep restaurants occupied...... |
