I'm certainly not saying that I'm happy for this or any high street to end up being full of vacant commercial units. That's my exact point as to why management companies are increasingly considering alternative uses of such vacant spaces. Bearing in mind much of my job is spent trying to argue on behalf of developers/management companies that long vacant commercial units should be allowed to change their usage or convert to resi, my personal experience tells me that management companies/developers do not like living with a long-term empty site. As for Xanthe's comment, when you work in my profession you know that in law no-one is entitled to a view, and that's my point - most people quite understandably don't realise that. Just as an aside, I don't actually own a property in Holland Gardens, I may live there, but I don't own the place ;-) |
