I don't really see any commercial business being successful in the long-term at a location like Ferry Quays. A small convenience store will get by due to some trade some the residential units, same for perhaps one restaurant, but otherwise I just don't see the numbers adding up. If anything is going to work it would be something like an educational/social/community use, i.e. not reliant on passing trade, but such uses wouldn't be able to pay high rents. Long-term therefore I reckon such units will end up being converted into residential units. By the way, having been through redundancy when the entire Taylor Wimpey Greater London regional office closed down in 2008, and having experienced a 4 day working work for 18 months between 2009 and the early part of 2011, my profession isn't exempt from the recession !. |
