I never really got a direct answer to my original question but going through the replies on here would I be correct in assuming that Momentum's highlighting of the Church Street issue was to do with candidate selection for the next local elections? There appears to have been some controversy in Ealing about Momentum supporters being excluded from the selection process to represent wards in that borough. Momentum seems to be more embedded in Hounslow and there doesn't seem to have been similar moves against them here. Now that a general election has been declared this sort of stuff has to be put on the back burner and Momentum has, very grudgingly declared their support for Ruth Cadbury despite which showed lack of unquestioning loyalty to the dear leader. With their support it is hard to see how she could lose but if the unthinkable happens, and Mary Macleod is the local MP come June 9, perhaps Ruth will be putting herself forward to come back on the Council. Will Momentum claim that someone they supported as an MP is not worthy to sit as a local councillor? |
