This continues an annoying trend where recycling facilities that were agreed to be in shop car parks are being removed. The ones in Homebase on Gillette Corner went over a year ago, recently Sainsbury in Richmond (okay not Hounslow council) and then Morrisons in Brentford. The council should keep the recycling bins cleaner. Often in Tesco Twickenham when the recycling bin has been emptied there is lots of rubbish that spills out of the collection truck but the driver makes no attempt to clear any spillage up, so I would not be surprised if this one is removed next. Multinational businesses generate a lot of waste so should provide these facilities to give back to the community. The cynic in me does think that they will look for the first excuse to remove them and have more car parking spaces, so Hounslow Council need to keep these sites clean so we do not lose them, but also replace them if businesses do take the facilities away. |
