| If Councillor Lambert wants to refute the accusation of lying, then he should really come up with some verifiable facts that support this road-closure policy. Its been a couple of years since this was implemented what benefits have been measured how many fewer car journeys as a result of this policy how many additional trips by cyclists and pedestrians how much has the air quality improved? Also, what were the number or cars that were using Whitestile Road as a cut-through, as this was used as a reason to block the road? Surely there are metrics that support such a major and unpopular change if there are not, then this whole thing is exposed as a capricious move that has had no benefits and many disadvantages and is based on supposition and, yes, lies. Our council are using the well-tried Orwellian tactic of repeating the same lie over and over hoping that it will be accepted as fact. If the road closures have improved our lives, prove it otherwise give us our road back. |
