Here’s a thought though. Big liar Lambert is all for challenging the decision to block access to the Thames Path through Brentford Dock. Lots of taxpayers money to be spent on a court case they may not win. Yet the closure of the path was taken after a ballot of residents there, who all pay hefty service charges to maintain the area. Perhaps they don’t like the rat runners cutting through there. But when the council ‘consults’ with residents on schemes it supports there’s no obvious indication that its interested in the majority view unless it tallies with policy. Hence the part closure of Swyncombe, to the detriment of those living on adjacent roads. No legal challenge in the offing on that one for the council, since residents presumably want the peace and quiet. Rather like the Brentford Dock residents. And then when there is clear and obvious opposition to a scheme, as with the imposed LTNs, it’s simply ignored. There’s no obvious benefit from them, despite what’s claimed by certain parties. Traffic increased on surrounding roads. People don’t take up cycling en masse. It’s more difficult fur deliveries. Etc. Perhaps someone can explain why the rules are different. |
