| Yes Ruth has certainly come out with guns blazing and I hope she will take the matter further with the minister. However that will take some time and we all know that Thames Water does not listen to reason or care about the community. The company runs the site with impunity and it will continue to do so with the smug arrogance of knowing that the Local Authority was stupid enough to grant planning permission on the back of an S106 agreement which the Local Authority now seems to admit, leaves them powerless to enforce statutory nuisance under EPA 1990. Everyone knows that Thames Water will not act on its own volition. It only reacts to Court action. I hope Ruth channels her energy into convincing the Council to take the long overdue legal action. The legal voice is the only voice Thames Water will (half) listen to. Ruth will be aware of this as she was a Councillor for long enough and she knows that talking nicely to Thames Water and ‘asking’ them to clean up their act hasn’t helped at all for the last 20 years. The directors of TW and the Mogden site managers need to be dragged into court to be held accountable and answer to the people. |
