"Finally, after months of residents begging Hounslow Council to hold Thames Water accountable for its mismanagement, the Company was hauled before the Council on 15 July." We have now been told by the Council that no formal minutes of the meeting were taken. No doubt the Council didn't want a formal record of what was discussed as this would need to be disclosed should residents choose to haul Thames Water into the High Court of Justice again. The last trial no doubt caused quite some embarrassment for the Council when it was evident it had done so little for more than a decade to protect residents under its statutory duty defined by EPA 1990. The next case will no doubt disclose that Hounslow has learned little from the Judges findings and has been content to remain complacent. |
