| I always joke that the self-scan machines in Morrisons fell off the back of a lorry, I've never encountered such 'temperamental' machines anywhere else. As I may have mentioned before, one evening several of the machines were playing up so the security guard directed some of us to the tobacco/lottery/magazine counter, at which service was painfully slow due to people buying lottery tickets etc. In exasperation I ended up walking to the front of the queue, showing the cashier the three items I bought, putting my money on the counter (actually overpaying for the goods) and walking out the store. The very pleasant and affable security guard duly came after me and said I couldn't do that, fair enough, but suffice to say I avoid the store like the plague. How anyone can suggest it is 'decent' is beyond me, I've been in there for the last 13 years and I've always found it a most depressing place to shop. But in my view at the moment it serves its purpose and is somewhat reflective of the town as a whole, the notion of an M&S food hall in Brentford certainly amuses me... |
