In my job I've been lucky enough to have eaten in some 40 odd Michelin star restaurants all over Europe, probably the only perk of a 75 hour week. I have to say the food I've had at The Griffin is amongst the best of those. It can't beat them as it is still a proper pub and long may it remain so and thus does not have the sumptious or contemporary surroundings or a legion of staff. Then again nor do most Gastro Pubs But for unpretentious high quality cuisine that certainly equals the best it's a gem right on the doorstep and 1 day a week, Well worth planning ahead for. In London, only Theo Randalls at the Intercontinental Hyde Park would be my preference. |
