Mark you can often eat wood pigeon & pearl barley or pheasant or a brilliant steak or many other things at the Griffin on a Wednesday evening. One of it's locals, Frank, regularly goes shooting and delivers the results to Gerhard at the Griffin as fresh as you can get in time for Wednesday supper club. The menu changes every week and I don't think anyone who has sampled it has left disappointed. May I suggest you sign up for the weekly supper club menu to be emailed to you so that you wont miss out next time? The Griffin does not purport to be a gastro pub and does not offer food every evening but that is mainly because of its proximity to the football ground. It is impossible to offer a daily evening menu because on football days and/or evenings the place is heaving with supporters. The lunchtime menu is mainly pub grub but I don't think you could find better value anywhere else in the area. The Sunday lunch is definitely the best quality I have sampled in comparison to any other pub lunch I have had. Again quality ingredients at a fair price. However I have to admit I am biased because Claire is my daughter and Gerhard my son in law. |
