"Voting marrying and fighting for your country is not the same as being a representative for the people. I totally agree that young people bring fresh ideas, but they don't need to be an actual politician when they are just out of school." There is no consistency in your thoughts on this. Just where would you draw the line on maximum age then? 50 or 60 or is it OK to stand when you are 92? So a young officer prepared to die for Queen and Country is not 'experienced enough' in your opinion to have a view on the politics which send him/her off to fight for us? There are some bright Graduates from Oxbridge who come out with Firsts when they are only 20/21. Why can they go out immediately and work in top jobs the private sector or even the public sector but be precluded from standing as a Ward Councillor for which you don't actually have to be 'Brain of Britain' My own grandfather graduated as a Medical Doctor from Trinity at 19 years of age. The law at the time precluded him from practicing in the UK or Rep of Ireland until he was 21 so he was forced to practice in South America for 2 years. |
