Theo Some ICG councillors, myself included, did not vote for the increase in SRAs but that is by the by. We accepted them when they were paid to us. Having opposed the increases when they were tabled the logical thing for Labour councillors to have done would have been simply to reverse them when they assumed power but instead they only cut them back by 20% - a worthy gesture to be sure, but still difficult to explain bearing in mind their steadfast opposition to them at the time they were passed. In another post you mention Labour's Syon campaign. In neighbouring Isleworth two of the ICG candidates were slated for receiving SRAs (Special Responsibilities Allowances) as members of the then Executive. Since being elected, two of the three candidates who distributed that material have themselves been promoted to the Executive (now the Cabinet) and are in receipt of SRAs themselves. I would describe them as "politicians", wouldn't you? |
