When Jason stood for the Council he was unaware of the allowances paid. If you had listened to the radio interview he did when he won and found out you would have guffawed at his innocence. He's never asked for expenses, he doesn't claim to get to to Council meetings though he could. And when the allowances were dangled in front of him he was the first to agree that they should be cut. YES - this Labour administration, cut members allowances as their first act on election because we knew things would be tough for the Council and for our residents. Special responsibility allowances were cut by 20%+ and the standard allowance by 10%. If I were partisan Paul, I might mention the massive hike in allowances that the Conservative/ICG coalition pushed through. Though of course I accept that the ICG never held the finance brief... but you never voted them down! |
