I don't think we disagree or differ in our contempt for politicians - and I'll post again on that thread. I accept your criticism of my advice to Jason but if everyone who had practical and sensible reasons for not standing did so our councils would be the poorer for it. Time does not make a good councillor - I argued that this new administration should ban all full time politicians - that everyone should stay in the real world and never let being on the council consume them. There must be room on our council for people who have got a job, for students at college and universities, for parents with kids, for people with busy lives. There are enough councillors with nothing else to do and if we look at who sits on our council it is not the amount of time they have on their hands that distinguishes the good from the bad. Since being kicked off the cabinet, the number of meetings I attend has plummeted. The amount of time I spend at the civic centre has too, and personally I think I have delivered more of value in my ward and generally. So, I just ask that you judge Jason fairly - there are better and more worthy targets. |
