Barely 7% of electors trust politicians - and why should they. Politician has been redefined as someone adept at twisting the truth, claiming credit for stuff they never did, for promising one thing and doing another. Caring more for themselves than anyone else. Jason is a poor politician. As Phil says, he's bright and personable. When, for heaps of practical and sensible reasons he fretted about whether he should stand, I said, firstly that there was always a risk we could win but secondly, that it was always better that good people should stand. He is honest and decent and young, and if the ICG doesn't think that regular imperfect folk shouldn't take control of our politics then what on earth are you there for? |
