I don’t know how old the Councillor is or which Uni he attends, but I don’t think that people should be allowed to stand until they are 25 years old. It horrifies me that such unformed minds should be allowed to participate in decision making which affect a couple of 100,000 people or so. How do we know that secretly a young Councillor is not a political hothead with views which have not yet been tempered with experience and a more balanced sense of reality and maturity? It is said he works hard, and that may well be true. But how is that measured against an allowance of £12K p.a? Many I have met at Uni work their socks off for a better degree and they may be falling in love and off to the pub etc. How does he get time to work hard for the community as well? Because that is the type of Councillor I would be inclined to vote for. |
