| From my interested perspective, what also shouldn't be forgotten is that such 'antics' are unlikely to attract experienced or high quality staff to join Hounslow. I recall when I first joined the first committee I attended was H&CAC and it was such a complete culture shock compared to all the Committees I'd attended in previous jobs. Now me being the rather upfront, direct and heart on his sleeve Northerner that I am I actually liked that 'shock' and it certainly meant I always had to be on my toes and fully prepared/informed, and all the dodgy stuff I sometimes witnessed was to me part of the job. But take someone who's very prim and proper and expects everything to be done totally correctly, they would be doing their nut. Indeed, since I left in August 2006, as far as I'm aware (and I may be wrong as my personal contact with LBH is extremely limited) LBH has had only one permanent Head of Planning Enforcement, and since he left although there has been something of an internal rejig the post hasn't actually been filled. |
