Mick is absolutely correct. You will end up paying for something that you already have and there will be no difference. Unless the CPZ is 24hours a day, The streets will still be full at night which is when residents most want to park. It will be just the same with a CPZ because all those residents will be entitled to a permit will still be filling the streets up at night. In fact it will be worse because with the CPZ comes a host of restrictions which actually reduce the total of available parking. So as Hamilton Road has more residents cars than it can accommodate, where will they be parking? This sounds like a whim for the stay at home mums who drive everywhere and don't want to walk more than 50m to their cars. A simple CPZ is a sticker with ones council tax annually for each car registered and free visitors permits for each council tax paying household. And a No Commuter Zone. If it's not about milking the residents then go after and milk the commuters. Ah ! But it's so much easier to screw the local residents. |
