They displace parking into the surrounding streets, which end up as CPZs whether the residents want them or not. Eventually, the whole area will have parking controls- which is fine, until you have to dash for a pint of milk, or whatever, when you don't have time to walk. Tradesmen, builders and deliveries can't stop. Residents who forget to renew their permits will be fined- not everybody's perfect at remembering these things. Finally, don't even think about parking an inch over a white line- or you'll pay for it. The experience of residents in Grove Park seems to suggest the Council is determined to enforce CPZs everywhere. If you trust them to be acting in your best interests, then do support it. Personally, I have my doubts. |
