To local residents of Hamilton road whom may love the idea of a CPZ , think of the increased possibility of a child being injured in a road accident in an adjacent road because of cars fighting over parking spaces. If we are to have a CPZ area lets plan it properly and all vote. There is a good paper by the government called the "Operational Guidance to Local Authorities as part of the Parking Policy and Enforcement Traffic Managment Act 2004. A few lines of this are completely opposite to Hounslow Councils handling of their CPZ's . 4.4 The appraisal should take account of: existing and predicted levels of demand for parking; the availability and pricing of on- and off-street parking places; the justification for, and accuracy of, existing traffic orders; Operational Guidance – March 2008 • impact on traffic flow, i.e. traffic or congestion outcomes. parking restrictions are there for good reasons – to improve safety, prevent congestion, ensure a fair distribution of parking spaces, and help reduce pollution. |
