I'd like to echo the sentiments expressed in the last post. I feel the use of Hamilton Road as a commuter/holiday/football/don't want to pay for a permit in my own street car park undoubtedly contributes to the volume and velocity of cars in this narrow street. With two young children, the desire to park close to home is neither capricious nor moronic, but a primarily a true need to ensure their safety on what is an incredibly busy rat run of a road both in summer and during icy winters and secondly to make life a good deal easier when rushing around doing errands with young children. As it has been underlined, the trial period is for one hour per day- hardly a huge impact to Hamilton Road residents and their visitors. What has saddened me the most has been the vitriolic response of some of the anti-CPZ residents. I know of at least two anti-CPZ residents who find it reasonable to impose unilateral CPZs outside their own homes should they have building work being carried out or just want to reserve their own parking space (with a bin and wooden plank!) I am certain the whole road would see many benefits from the introduction of a CPZ and for my part am absolutely for it. |
