Over the 20+ years that I've lived in Brentford the issue of creating controlled parking zones (CPZ) in the streets around the football ground has been something approaching an bi-annual event. Having lived in both Lateward & Hamilton roads, I have watched many times as this old chestnut is trotted out only for the residents to kick it where it belongs..into the long grass. In my opinion a CPZ creates a range of problems for the residents of the street concerned, it is an open ended means for the regulating authority to levy excessive charges on car owners. The neighbouring streets will probably also have to take up their own 'exclusive' CPZ as the parking pressure builds. Friends & family will have to find other places to park during the restricted period. At the moment the parking in Hamilton road is free & generally fine. We knew there was a football ground here when we bought our houses & it seems to me very anti-social & un-friendly to deny the Bees supporters a couple of hours parking near Griffin park on a match day. |
