| No, those were parked on the other side of the road and 100M away from the official space. I have thught for some time that Lime have been inaccurate when they told the council repeatedly that 95% were properly parked. Nevertheless many people use them and the vast majority are used legally. It is easy as a cyclist to detect the hacked ones - they either click or chirp and in my experience it is maybe 1 in 20, nearly always used by children who also use them unsafely, as kids do! Apropos of insurance, I have it as part of my membership of London Cycling Campaign, which is a small subscription. A couple of years ago I was knocked off by a driver in a Smart Car. He was prosecuted by the police and I was persuaded to make a legal claim for my two broken arms. This was managed by the LCC appointed lawyers and resulted me being awarded a sizeable sum of compensation. Of course, in the very unlikely event of me injuring anybody by my cycling behaviour, that would be covered by my insurance which is included in the annual sub. The only other collision I have had with another was when a woman running for a bus knocked me off when I was particularly frail after 3 weeks in hospital. I was not really injured and we both giggled about it. I doubt she had insurance! |
