| Users of bikes take up much less space both when travelling and when parked than other motor vehicles. They also make much less pollution than other vehicles do. Users range in age tremendously and and in the main they keep users healthy and exercising more than using a car or another motor vehicle does! Like anything there are always going to be a few exceptions who cannot or can no longer use one. What should have happened is that Govt should have stipulated very clearly what was legal here and what wasn't so that we would have had fewer huge and fast illegal and souped up electric bikes which are unlicensed and dangerous. More fuss should be made about cycles on pavements and more advertising needs to be done to show all those who have never looked at the Highway Code that it applies to everyone. Remember Tufty the Squirrel - whatever happened to him? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pXJB2REuHh8 Councils and schools run cycling courses and everyone needs to learn how to cycle s l o w l y - it isn't all about speed! There are lots of different headings under Cycling on the Hounslow website: https://www.hounslow.gov.uk/cycling or put the word "cycling" into the search box on the LB Hounslow website: www.hounslow.gov.uk |
