| Why is it that all these great well intentioned ideas end up being such an expensive and widely abused disaster? In part it's because the pragmatic concerns are dismissed and ignored at the outset and then a period of denial overrules rather than be admitted and actioned immediately. The list of 'initiatives' that fall short or simply fail is too long and in too many things. Is it too many cook? Is it naive advisers advising blinkered or ignorant decision makers? Is it too much box ticking exercises? One thing comes up in so many domains ( Not just Hounslow but in other things) The unwillingness to genuinely listen and take on board concerns from ordinary residents and people. The culture of patronising " We're Listening" is a farce too often. It is noticeable that when genuine residents groups and people with good knowledge do get an input things are much closer to being right. The Lime Bikes and others have become a hazardous menace, the crime use is rife. Hacking is stealing and defrauding. Limes near impossible communication to report damage to property, abuse or dumping is time consuming, requires too much personal information and is designed deliberately to deflect. Authorities could do so much more in stipulating terms, but pressure from the GLA, TfL and policies puts them in a hard to negotiate corner. They need to say No or enforce vigorously. |
