Ahh that maybe so Councellor, the final cantons brought women into the vote in 1971. However one thing to bear in mind is that the population can call an Intative or Referendum at anytime to either reject government policy or push government to enact policy. Something that we seem to lack in the party political systems that we have today in the UK. In Switzerland the population can gather 100 000 signatures to start this process. Imagine if the UK population got together a certain number signatures to push an agenda as they do in Switzerland. I think there may be far better representation that just pointing out when or how women got the vote. Just saying.... |
