The sad thing is Rob - as we know - is that loyal, lifelong Labour voters, supporters - even some members, feel they cannot support Labour in Isleworth this time around. Apart from a couple of notable exceptions I would say that any similarity to Labour councillors around here is coincidental at best. Do they understand the principles of the party and the ethos of public service? This unfortunately is not confined to Labour - let's look at the Tories - one whole family who previously were desperate to represent Labour but couldn't get selected have de-camped to the Tories where they are all candidates this time around. What does that say about sincerity, integrity and political nous? What do these people think being a councillor entails? Is the lure of approx. £10,000 a year overriding the desire to be a diligent representative of, and an advocate for, local residents? |
