This is another thread about Church St which mentions the meeting between the pro-closure campaigners and Phil and myself in June 2013. I have to repeat what I said on the previous thread - that I remained unconvinced and needed to go away and gather my thoughts. I was probably too polite to openly rubbish the campaigners on the day, and Phil may have been more enthusiastic, I can't recall. As Phil says, I was openly hostile to the idea when speaking to him in private. As for the open air events, the road could quite easily be temporarily closed for the day for these and then reopened. No-one wants to go to such an event on a drab Tuesday night in October, and that's when the traffic problems build up on TR. Incidentally, according to my leafleting sheet I've just looked at, there's only 80 properties in Church St plus another 40 in Mill Plat and Millside Place. Even the latter didn't have cars actually going past their house, and now have to go out onto the TR at the top of Park Rd to get anywhere to the South. |
