| After the Brent Lea fiasco it is worth pointing out that the affair does not seem to have had the effect increasing Council respect for Hounslow (and London's) open spaces. If anything it may well have had the opposite result by making lead councillors work up more excuses for encroachment. Recent Cabinet papers on school place planning seem to me to do just that. The Planning Committee meeting of 3rd Dec, which approved plans for a school for 1400 children on Metropolitan Open Land in Osterley, was something of a classic in showing total lack of concern for planning guidelines regarding open spaces (among other things).
