Agree entirely with you Dave, and it isn't only our green spaces that we need to work together on either. I was at a march by local residents in Isleworth yesterday against the ridiculous and muddle headed closure of Church St. which is pushing over 2000 more vehicles a day onto the Twickenham Rd. with the obviously greater pollution. The fact that this road runs alongside, Isleworth Town and St. Mary's Primary Schools, plus Gumley with The Blue School and Worple not far away, seems to have bypassed our elected representatives. No, they'd rather a few wealthy people in Church St. were given - courtesy of the rest of us - 'tranquil', traffic free, exclusive housing. And this from an apparently LABOUR council, they ought to be thoroughly ashamed of themselves. We've also had to fight for our small local M.O.L. designated park to be given back to us rather than having horses grazing on it. The lot at Lampton aren't on receive at all, now, more than ever we need a cross borough united residents movement. |
